The Teller’s Tale

Jared Cook directed and produced this film, while both he and Bryce Randle served as the editors. At a final duration of 17:17, it has received an audience choice award at the LDS Film Festival and continues to entertain families around the country. Filmed on 35mm and riddled with animated visual effects, The Teller’s Tale is a short film about a young boy in 1910 Connecticut who embarks on a quest to discover the key to telling a great story and win the Rabbit’s foot, the greatest of all prizes.

Tolerance

Tolerance was an official selection in the 2006 Slamdance Film Festival that takes place in Park City, Utah. Produced by Tolerance Productions,  Bryce Randle edited this short in the summer of 2005 on an Avid Adrenaline. The piece was shot on 35mm film and transferred to DigiBeta and sent off to film festivals on DigiBeta.

Singles 2nd Ward

As a follow up to the original “Singles Ward” independent feature produced by Halestorm Entertainment, Singles 2nd Ward focuses on Kirby Heybourne’s character, Dalen, and his attempt to find a true love. Bryce Randle worked as the first assistant editor on this film, working in HD off of the DVCPRO HD footage shot on the Vericam. This specific scene was edited by Bryce Randle while adding in pick up shots with Kurt Hale. Bryce also created titles for the film, cleaned up shots with his visual effects knowledge and was an additional editor after the final cut of the film was submitted from editors John Lyde & Wynn Hougaard.


Violette

Violette is a dramatic short about the everyday life of a young girl who finds joy through helping a stranger. Edited by Bryce Randle, the piece was shot on 35mm film by Cole Webley of Saint Cloud Film. The short was directed by Aline Conti of Corsica, France and produced by Ashkan Memarian of Orange County.

Las Piñatas

Jared Cook was the online editor on this project, making final editorial and color adjustments to the film and creating master copies for distribution. Las Piñatas is one of the many award-winning animated short films by the Brigham Young University Animation department. The story covers two piñatas as they strive to escape the wrath of several children with sticks at a birthday party.



50 Ways to Score More Goals

Post Fifth Pictures produced this high speed hockey instructional documentary hybrid. Directed and edited by Bryce Randle, it features an exclusive interview with NHL Hall of Famer Luc Robitaille. Produced for Hockey Player Magazine (HockeyPlayer.com), it is the first of three videos in their DVD library produced by Post Fifth Pictures. Shot on a combination of HD and SD resolutions, 50 Ways to Score More Goals is a must see for every hockey player, coach and parent.

Clean Flicks

Edited, written, shot and co-directed by Mark Gillins, this film tells the rise and legal demise of Daniel Thompson, who sold unauthorized, censored versions of popular movies via several Utah Valley stores.  Themes of morality, hypocrisy, and agency are presented as Daniel closes his last location and defends the utility of his services.

The documentary is five minutes in length and was edited on a Final Cut Pro system.  Selected footage from this film was featured at the 2009 Toronto Film Festival.

The Anatomy of a Short Film: Directing Actors

With over 100 hours of footage shot during a short film in Los Angeles, this documentary goes in depth with each step of the filmmaking process; development, pre production, production and post production. Edited by Bryce Randle, this specific piece shows the processes of Directing Actors and all that it is entails.


The Generations Project

Broadcast nationwide and online through BYU Television, Mark Gillins, Bryce Randle and Jared Cook edited twelve 1-hour episodes of this TV series, with Mark serving as Lead Editor. Each episode follows a different individual who has a compelling reason to research their family history.  One subject confirms a family legend that his American heritage includes an Indian princess who migrated to the US in the 1800s, while others relive the terrors of African American slavery in order to better relate with an ancestor, or travel to Ireland to relive a desperate journey across the Pacific during the Potato Famine.  The first, thirteen-episode season begins airing in January 2010.  Footage was shot using Sony XDCAM and edited in Final Cut Pro.

Death Row Dogs

Approached by Brandon McMillian, host of NIGHT on Animal Planet, Bryce Randle cut a small demo for a new show aimed at documentary friendly networks. The demo was shown to full scale production companies and because of the work with Post Fifth Pictures, Brandon succeeded at getting a pilot created for his new show, Death Row Dogs.

BYU: Be the Change

Jared Cook served as one of two editors on these commercials, poring through more than fifty hours of footage to construct a cohesive piece from a mixture of amateur and professional footage shot on various HD and SD formats. Both Final Cut Pro and Avid Media Composer were used in the process. These 1:00 and :30 commercials served as the Brigham Young University Institutional Messages of 2009. Focused around performing service both domestically and internationally, the spots highlight the unique service experiences of BYU students around the world. They have been featured on national television and at football games in BYU’s Lavell Edwards stadium.

Library of Congress

Jared Cook was privileged to serve as the editor on this project, cutting 1:00 and :30 versions that air on national television alongside a sister commercial in the same campaign made by Disney. A collaboration between the Brigham Young University Animation, Communications, and Film departments, this commercial was made for the Library of Congress and National Ad Council as a public service announcement to encourage literacy.

BYU Swim

Jared Cook served as the editor on these spots in association with Greenlight Films. This is a series of short promotional spots shot on the RED camera that highlight the Brigham Young University swimming and diving team. They will be featured on the team’s website, in swim meets, and on local television.


Spring Communications: Swing

Bryce Randle edited this commercial for Fifty Films in Salt Lake City in October 2007. It was shot on 35mm, edited on Final Cut Pro and sent to Betacam SP to air on television stations throughout Utah, Idaho, Colorado and Arizona. It is one of eight commercials featured in the campaign, six in English and two in Spanish.

“We Did It: Basketball”

A part of “The Truth” campaign about the effects of tobacco use, this is one of four ads edited by Bryce Randle while editing for Fifty Films of Salt Lake City. This spot was edited for the Utah Department of Health and aired statewide. It was shot on 35mm film and edited on Final Cut Pro, delivered on BetacamSP to television networks.

Access Technology Solutions

Post Fifth Pictures produced this video for Access Technology Solutions to illustrate how businesses can extend their reach to international markets. Using a combination of motion graphics and stock footage, this piece achieved the desires of the Access Technology Solutions team.

American Heritage

Acting as the post production house, Bryce Randle edited this project with Jerry Craven of SilverWing Films. This piece was shot completely in high definition, edited with Final Cut Pro and sent to sound mixing. A teaser version was also created for a movie theatre commercial.

Gerdau Ameristeel

After being handed a few discs of raw footage, Post Fifth Pictures merged the pieces together to create a tour of the steel making process. Working together with the Tampa, Florida office, Post Fifth Pictures was able to create the video Gerdau Ameristeel envisioned.
