That’s the struggle. While both have their obvious positives and negatives, its been an interesting debate during this economy. Are there many freelancers who have been forced to take other employment elsewhere to stay in their desired field or has the industry kicked them to the streets and forced them to pursue another career? I’m curious to hear what our readers have faced during the year of 2009 and how they plan to overcome, ride through or react during 2010.
I call 2009, so lovingly, the year of the favor. I worked on so many projects that were for friends or were involved with ownership rather than upfront payment. A couple of those projects were produced here at Post Fifth Pictures just to keep us busy in between projects. We did them to create our own opportunities and I think that is where many people falter in the industry. There are those who wait for things to happen hoping to ride out the waves of a recession and then there are those who create their own opportunities with the skills they have.
